Nick Wesselman to Present at Sitecore Symposium 2012

Nick Wesselman

Hanson Dodge Creative (HDC) Director of Technology Nick Wesselman will be among the presenters at Sitecore Symposium North America 2012, a professional development and networking event for Sitecore customers, developers and executives, to be held Oct. 22-24 at the ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

Headquartered in Copenhagen, Sitecore is a leader in web content management and digital engagement software. As one of more than 4,500 certified Sitecore developers worldwide, Wesselman was honored earlier this year among a select group of individuals to be named a Sitecore MVP. The award program recognizes exceptional technical community leaders who serve as catalysts for change and innovation.

Wesselman will present twice during the Symposium during the week of Oct 22. His first presentation, “Implementing and Customizing Sitecore E-commerce Services,” will walk through the architecture and features of Sitecore E-commerce Services, implementation steps and how to extend its functionality.

“Developing e-commerce functionality on Sitecore can enable powerful marketing strategies and a cohesive user experience on your website,” said Wesselman. “In addition, it creates a central location for management of all web content, whether structured or unstructured.”

For his second presentation, Wesselman will partner with Alex Shyba, professional services manager for Sitecore USA, to discuss Page Editor extension.

“The Sitecore Page Editor has become an absolutely critical component of the most successful Sitecore implementations,” said Wesselman. “Complex content, front-end experience and business rules can necessitate customizing it to meet requirements. Alex and I plan to share some real world experience, discuss development best practices and demonstrate a few wicked customization mechanisms.”

The North American Symposium is one of three such events taking place around the world this fall. To learn more, visit Sitecore.

Wesselman leads the HDC technology practice and was instrumental in directing several award-winning projects using the Sitecore platform. He maintains a blog site and a Twitter account dedicated to Sitecore and other software development topics. He is also an active contributor on Stackoverflow and the Sitecore Developer Network.

In addition, Wesselman has been working online for the past three years with fellow developers Mark Van Aalst and Alistair Deneys on the WeBlog module, a blog software tool that allows users to build or add blogs to Sitecore sites. At the invitation of Sitecore, the three developers met last October in Copenhagen to create world-class blogging functionality for its CMS.

A 2004 computer science graduate of Marquette University, Wesselman has more than 10 years experience developing and implementing CMS systems, e-commerce and enterprise web development.
