Sara Meaney, Hanson Dodge Creative (HDC) president of strategy and growth, has been chosen to be among the presenters at the 19th Annual South by Southwest® (SXSW®) Interactive Festival on March 9-13 in Austin, Texas.
The SXSW® Interactive Festival is but one component of the annual SXSW® Conferences and Festivals which feature five days of new media presentations, music showcases and film screenings. To quote a CNBC report, “The show, dubbed ‘geek spring break’ by some, has grown beyond its music and film roots to become a gathering spot for venture capitalists and some of the biggest stars in the tech world.”
More than 19,000 participants from 63 countries attended the 2011 SXSW® Interactive Festival. With its compelling presentations from the brightest minds in emerging technology, scores of networking events hosted by industry leaders and a line-up of special programs showcasing the best new websites, video games and startup ideas, SXSW® Interactive has become the place to experience a preview of what is unfolding in the world of technology.
Meaney and co-presenter Al McWilliams of Quack! Media will speak at 5 p.m. (CST) on Tuesday, March 13 at the InterContinental Stephen F. Austin hotel in Capital Ballroom B. Their presentation, “Leif to Bieber – The Web Has Changed Nothing,” will explore how the formula for marketing success has largely remained unchanged over the past several decades despite the rapid introduction of new channels. Meaney and McWilliams will challenge audience members to think critically about the Internet distribution channel versus the quality of brands and messaging while focusing on the back-to-basics approach, regardless of channel or medium, online or offline.
Meaney has more than 15 years of marketing and communications experience advising global brands with an expertise in integrated marketing communications and technology. At Hanson Dodge Creative, she oversees the agency’s strategy and business development efforts, with ultimate responsibility for agency growth and client services. In her previous role with HDC, Meaney was responsible for the organizational development, maturity and growth of the social media and public relations practice and its programs, helping clients to make their mark in an increasingly technology-driven world.
