HDC PHOTOGRAPHER BRAD ROCHFORD: BIO
“Shooting the photo is only the first step in the process to create a great picture. Thoughtful, elegant and transparent retouching of the photo guarantees a refined and perfect final image.”
– Bradley Rochford, HDC Photographer
Brad graduated from Lawrence University with a dual degree in Music and English. Not long after, he found himself creating sounds for children’s books and toys, a pretty cool job he thought at the time. In May of 2000, Brad accepted a full-time position as Photography Coordinator with HDC. In his new role, he continued photo assisting, but also added new experiences to his list – producing, booking, styling, set construction, art direction, retouching and more shooting than ever.
At that time, a seismic shift happened in commercial studio photography, film was quickly giving way to digital. Hanson Dodge already started putting film away in 1998 and by 2000 was almost entirely a fully digital studio. HDC and Brad were on the very early learning curve, critical in HDC’s success as a premier digital imaging source.
In 2004, Brad took over as head photographer in the studio, and has since created images for world-class brands, including Trek Bikes, Horizon Fitness, Burton Snowboards, Wolverine Boots and Johnson Outdoors. He prides himself on his composition, but recognizes a finished image often requires the perfect retouching, another skill Brad has cultivated to the highest level. In fact, Brad often shoots and retouches in tandem.
These days, having a photographer who is as adept at shooting video as still imagery is not just a plus, but a real advantage. In a response to our clients’ growing needs for current, interactive media options, Brad has spent the past several years mastering his videography skills. More than ever, Brad is shooting and editing high-definition digital video for our clients, including Blue Cross Blue Shield North Carolina and Trek Bikes.
