The Challenge

Miller Electric Manufacturing Company provides innovative solutions for professional welders. They lead the welding industry in advanced products and meeting important needs for welding safety and health.

Miller partnered with Hanson Dodge to launch a global Sitecore website with an integrated content and commerce experience. The objective was to create a user-friendly digital brand experience that drives end users’ brand preference and empowers them to do their job. The new site also needed to have e-commerce capabilities to sell selected products online and integrate with a large product information management (PIM) system.

The Solution

Hanson Dodge started by working with Miller to identify the primary audiences that would be interacting with the new website. This research showed that the new site not only needed to appeal to the professional welder, but also a second critical audience: the do-it-yourself (DIY) welder. Guided by this insight, Hanson Dodge implemented a project gallery feature titled "We Build"—a community hub for welders of all skill levels that allows them to engage with the brand and share what they've built using Miller products.

By managing all website content through Sitecore CMS and using Active Commerce, a Sitecore e-commerce module, the new Miller website was created to handle an abundant amount of products as well as resources to assist customers in all of their welding and electric needs. It features step-by-step manuals and handbooks for welding and safety, as well as a “Where to Buy” feature that helps customers easily find and access their products.

The new Miller website was designed to provide both of Miller's target audiences with a streamlined mobile and desktop experience. It features intuitive navigation and faceted filtering to help professional and DIY welders find the information they need quickly and easily.
